Quickbooks for Small Business

If you're a small business, I highly recommend Quickbooks.  It's inexpensive, flexible and perfect for small businesses.  However, I don't recommend that you learn to use it.  While it's not that difficult, it takes a major amount of time to remember how to use it if you're updating your books monthly.  Instead, I recommend that you hire a part time bookkeeper that is Quickbooks certified.

I also recommend banking at an institution that supports the downloading of transactions.  This will save you a lot of money over time since your bookkeeper will just have to balance the books and cut checks or use the online bill payment.  With my small business I started out doing the books myself.  I quickly learned that it was a giant time suck and that the bookkeeper was the way to go.
